The SolidSafe Air 5K Solid-State Qi2 Power Bank comes with a USB-C charging cable and is offered in three colors: Silver, Gold, and Black. It offers both wired and wireless charging, including the ability to provide simultaneous charging via both methods. It sports an LED display which indicates the battery’s charge level and status as well as when Qi wireless charging is active. You can check the charge level at any time with the press of a button.

The SolidSafe Air 5K does not use the word “safe” in its name lightly. On the outside, this power bank employs a titanium enclosure as its casing. On the inside, its semi-solid-state cells replace the kind of flammable liquid found in your more commonplace lithium-ion batteries. These cells not only resist ignition but also extreme conditions like drilling and cutting. Lastly, this power bank sits at under 100Wh. Thanks to this, it meets the TSA carry-on guidelines while also being CCC certified for travel in China.

The BMX SolidSafe Air 5K Solid-State Qi2 Power Bank is a simple and effective solution for charging on the go. Its thin frame allows it to affix itself to a mobile device without making it too bulky to handle during a wireless charge. Even here, with my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 in its protective magnetic case, it sits comfortably on the back during a wireless charge. I had no problems handling my phone for a quick call or sliding it back into my pocket with the power bank still connected.

When it came to charge rates, I did not think I got the full 15W of wireless charge that this power bank is capable of with my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, that could be more due to my device’s or case’s compatibility with 3rd party wireless chargers. I brought the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, sporting a 4,400mAh battery, down to a 10% charge. This phone can charge at the maximum charge rates of 15W wirelessly and 25W while wired. I then set my device to wirelessly charge with the SolidSafe Air 5K, while my mobile device remained on. After close to 3 hours, I fully depleted the battery on the SolidSafe Air 5K, leaving the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 at a 75% charge. It looks like what I was getting was closer to a 10W wireless charge rate here.

However, as expected, the results from a wired charge were much better. In a little over an hour and 30 minutes, the power bank brought my device from a 20% charge to a 97% charge, with some battery to spare. Not to be overlooked is the power bank’s own respectable recharge rate, where I was able to recharge its battery from 0% to 100% in under two hours. Overall, I experienced solid wired charge rates both inbound and outbound with this power bank, while the wireless charge rate with my Samsung device was at least passable.

In the end, I do like what the SolidSafe Air 5K Solid-State Qi2 Power Bank brings to the table just with its portability and price point alone. A battery that you can slip into your pocket both alone or while attached to your phone is quite handy. It then gives you some peace of mind with its pretty durable build. If I were an Apple device user, I might have been able to get more out of that potential 15W wireless charge. However, as an Android user, I still appreciate the level of convenience that this power bank provides.

If you are in the market for a simple and highly convenient power bank, you should definitely look into the BMX SolidSafe Air 5K Solid-State Qi2 Power Bank. You can check it out for yourself by clicking here.
